Liesbet Grupping presents a new series of photographs created during her ‘Résidence Croissée’ in Clermont-Ferrand. There she travelled in the mountains searching for landscapes, by day and by night. She experimented with long slow exposure times on color positives and monochrome negatives. In this process she looked for (color)shifts that appear on this analogue material when alternating ‘extremely’ long and short exposure times. Playing with these defaults Liesbet Grupping generates, mostly from the (blue) sky, vast color compositions and landscapes originating by the grace of photography. The results are intense, seemingly abstract images, in which concrete elements shine through. Liesbet Grupping continues her research of this photographic process in The Living Room. In the days adjacent to the presentation she will create new site-specific images, which will be presented during this evening.
Liesbet Grupping participated in the annual exchange ‘Résidence Croissée’ between AIR Antwerpen and Artistes en Résidence Clermont-Ferrand.
